Effective date: 16 October 2026
Otis Technologies (“Otis”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) values your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use the Otis website (appotis.com) and the Otis apps for iPhone and iPad.
1. Information we collect
a. Account information
When you sign in we collect your email address and, if you use Google sign-in, your name and profile photo. We do not store passwords: you sign in with Google or with a one-time code sent to your email.
b. Your prompts, files, and decks
We process what you type to Otis, the files you attach or upload for redesign, and the presentations Otis builds for you. On the web, your chat history and finished decks (PDF and PowerPoint) are stored on our servers so they appear in My Decks.
c. Billing information
Web subscriptions are processed by Stripe; mobile subscriptions by Apple. We receive your subscription status, plan, and renewal dates. We never receive or store your full card details.
d. Usage and device data
We keep limited technical logs (such as IP address, browser type, and error events) to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems. With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used.
2. How we use your information
- To provide Otis: building, redesigning, editing, and storing your presentations
- To manage your account, subscription, and billing
- To provide support and respond to your messages
- To protect the service, including rate limits and fraud prevention
- To improve our features, using aggregated or consented analytics
We do not use your content to train our own AI models, and we do not sell your personal information.
3. AI processing
Otis uses third-party AI providers — primarily Anthropic (Claude), and in some app features OpenAI — to understand your requests and generate your slides. Your prompts and attached files are sent to these providers only to produce your results, under their commercial terms, which restrict use of your data for training. Please don’t upload information you’re not allowed to share.
4. Sharing of information
We share information only with service providers who help us run Otis, each bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations:
- Anthropic and OpenAI — AI processing
- Stripe — web payments; Apple — in-app purchases
- Google — sign-in, analytics (with consent), and Firebase services in the apps
- Our hosting provider — secure storage of accounts and decks
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users and service.
5. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies:
- Essential: a secure session cookie that keeps you signed in and protects forms, and a “signed in” hint so pages can show the right buttons. These are required for the service to work.
- Analytics (optional): Google Analytics cookies, set only if you choose Accept in the cookie banner.
You can change your choice at any time: open cookie settings.
6. Data storage and security
All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS. API keys and payment secrets are kept on our servers and never sent to your browser or device. Access to stored data is restricted, and deck files can only be downloaded by the account that owns them.
7. Data retention
We keep your decks and chat history until you delete them or your account. Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes. Security logs are kept for a limited period. Inactive accounts are deleted after 18 months of inactivity.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can delete your account and data yourself in Account → Delete account, or contact us at otisappteam@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
9. International transfers
Some of our providers process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
10. Children’s privacy
Otis is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll post the new version here and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in the app.
